Taberna do Peixe

Quarteira / 25€.

This restaurant is known for the warm hospitality of its owner and staff, along with its showcase of fresh fish, just a 3-minute stroll from the beach.

The menu offers an extensive selection of both seafood and meat, all fresh, visually appealing, and delicious, making it difficult to choose.

I recommend selecting whatever catches your eye from the fresh display, but if you’d like my suggestion, I recommend starting with the Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato*. For the main course, you can’t go wrong with the Lulinhas à Algarvia** or the Monkfish Pasta. All the dishes are generously portioned and come with great sides.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, a reflection of the owner’s (Carlos da Lota) own welcoming nature.

The space is simple and unpretentious but very pleasant. If you’re lucky, especially on weekends, you might catch live music, which was a delightful surprise for my wife on the day we visited.
