Quarteira / 18€.
A restaurant that pleasantly surprises with the quality of its cooking, the freshness of its fish, and a broad menu that includes traditional Portuguese dishes. It’s advisable to make a reservation, as the wait can sometimes be long for those who don’t.
The menu offers a wide variety of fish and meat options, but my top recommendations would be the Grouper, Squid in its ink, Carne de Porco à Alentejana* and, if available, the Cozido à Portuguesa**. When it comes to desserts, the selection is equally extensive and tempting.
It’s always a good idea to ask about the dish of the day and the catch of the day, as the fish is beautifully displayed in a fishing boat-shaped showcase, but the actual selection often goes beyond what’s on display.
Most of the clientele, both in summer and winter, are locals – regulars who dine there daily, a sure sign of a restaurant that offers both great quality and value.
